About Me
I'm Josiah Price — actor, director, educator, and proud Lafayette, Louisiana native.
My journey in theatre started when my mom made me attend a summer camp I wanted no part of. From that camp to performing on stages in New York City to building a theatre company back home, I've spent my career telling stories that challenge, illuminate, and bring people together.
I am a founding member and Resident Director of Heritage Parc's Black Theatre Experience, a company dedicated to producing work by playwrights of color and creating opportunities for artists of color right here in Acadiana. I co-directed BTE's inaugural production, Topdog/Underdog, and have since directed a sold-out run of August Wilson's Fences, Heidi Schreck's What the Constitution Means to Me, and Lynn Nottage's Fabulation. I also direct The Juneteenth Story, written by playwright Twana Benoit, which has become an annual communal ritual in Lafayette — four productions and counting.
As an actor, my credits include Collins in Rent, George in Intimate Apparel, Lincoln in Topdog/Underdog, and Lyons in Fences. I trained at Juilliard's Shakespeare Intensive and am a National Finalist in the English Speaking Union Shakespeare Competition.
Before returning to Lafayette, I spent three years in New York working my way up in Jean-Georges Vongerichten's restaurant group, eventually serving as Service Manager at abcV. Hospitality taught me the same things theatre teaches me: read the room, anticipate needs, build trust, hold a standard.
I am a teaching artist within the Lafayette Parish School System and serve as inaugural Chairperson of NAACP ACT-SO Lafayette. I also founded Creative Reach, a company building toward providing professional production support to grassroots organizations, Black-led events, and communities that other companies overlook.
At the heart of everything I do is a belief that the most powerful stories are the ones told by the people they belong to.
